5 Sizes

We've added a third size in the middle of the bell curve to provide a fit that’s just right. With 80% of our riders falling between 5’5” and 6’0”, we introduced a new "Extra-Medium" size. The extra-medium (size 3) now sits in the middle of our size range, while our size five remains the traditional XL.

Flip It

We’ve added more adjustability with a new flip chip - now you can run 29” or 27.5”/29” mixed (MX) wheels on all sizes without compromising the geometry. The Extra Medium and larger sizes ship with 29” wheels, while the Small and Medium sizes come with MX wheels.

DW-Link Suspension

We continue to use the critically acclaimed dw-link suspension platform known for its efficient climbing and strong downhill performance; it sets the standard for modern mountain bikes.

Drawing on the race-proven HD6 design, the Ripmo now has a coil spring friendly progressive shock rate and shorter clevis which makes it compatible with pretty much any coil shock.

Our size-specific kinematics make sure every size bike pedals amazing while still keeping things quiet and calm on challenging trails.

Ripmo Specific FAQs

Yes, all Ibis bicycles ship with a Traction Tune rear shock. The compression and rebound tune has less damping compared to an off the shelf Fox Float X. A lighter shock tune makes it easier for the rear wheel to get out of the way, allowing the bike to better absorb an impact. If the suspension doesn’t move fast enough to track terrain, the wheel gets hung up and you lose speed, steering, and braking control. To learn more about our Traction Tune philosophy, click here.

The Ripmo 3 is optimized around a 44mm offset fork. A 51mm offset fork shortens the trail (the distance between the contact patch and the steering axis), which can cause the front end to feel less stable.

The Ripmo is optimized around a 160mm fork. It is compatible with 150-170mm forks.

The Ripmo 3 has a 55mm chainline.

55mm chainline cranksets include:

Sram Dub Wide Cranksets.

Shimano 120 Series Cranksets, or 125 in the case of XTR.

A variety of other manufacturers offer 55mm chainline cranksets. Verify with your preferred crankset manufacturer before purchasing and installing.

Check out our Bottom Bracket installation guide for 55mm chainline cranksets here.

Yes, the Ripmo 3 supports both 29” and 27.5” rear wheels. Ensure the flip chip is in the appropriate orientation for the wheel size that is installed.

Yes! Our new upper link driven suspension design supports any 230 x 60mm coil shock.

The standard shock size is 230 x 60mm. A longer stroke shock should not be used, as there is potential that the tire will rub on the saddle and seat tube. The use of a different size shock will void the frame’s warranty.

STOW - ‘Snacks, Tools, or Whatever’ is our integrated frame storage system. Find out more about STOW here.

The maximum length pump that can fit inside our tool bag is 7.25 inches / 18.4cm.

Yes, replacement STOW components can be found on our webstore.

No. The flip chip position is clearly marked and should always match the rear wheel size installed. A mismatch between flip chip position and rear wheel size will negatively impact the bike's geometry.

Most 27.5” x 2.5” and 29” x 2.5” tires will fit on the Ripmo 3. Always verify there is a minimum of 8mm of clearance between the frame and tire at the tightest point before riding.

The maximum round chainring on the Ripmo 3 is a 34T. The minimum round chainring on the Ripmo 3 is a 30T.

Yes, the max size oval chainring we recommend is a 32T. Not all oval chainrings are the same, so we recommend double checking clearance before installation.

A 26 oz Purist water bottle (with an Arundel Side Loader Cage, available on our webstore) fits on all frame sizes except the size 1 / small, which can accommodate a 22 oz Purist bottle.

A size extra medium Ripmo 3 frame with a Float X shock weighs 7.6 lbs / 3.5 kg. Our complete builds (size extra medium) begin at 31.11 lbs (14.1kg) with all frame protection installed and sealant in the tires.

You can find torque specs for the Ripmo 3 in the tab on the right.

The Ripmo 3 uses a 180mm post mount rear brake mount.

To run a 180mm rotor, you'll use the shimano caliper bolts. No adapter is needed.

To run a 203mm rotor, you'll use the following Shimano part number: SM-MA-F203P / P

To run a 220mm rotor, you'll use the following Shimano part number: SM-MA-F220P/PM

Dropper Post Saddle Height Calculations

Do not try to insert your post deeper than these measurements. Forcing the post can result in a seat tube failure.

IMPORTANT: Before riding, check the saddle to tire clearance with the dropper post fully dropped and the air out of the shock with frame compressed to bottom out.
