THIS ISRECAP OF

Ibis Migration #11
Oakridge

We’ve been enamored with the riding in Oakridge for years and years. We bring the Ibis demo fleet to Mountain Bike Oregon every year, and in 2022 we decided to stick around and hold our first Migration in the State of Oregon. It was a smashing success, and we did a repeat in 2023.

For the second year, we decided to have a lottery for tickets to Oakridge, as we only had 24 slots available. We wanted to give everyone an equal chance at joining us. We had an online sign-up for a few days and ended up with 10 times as many applicants as we had places available. We then drew numbers out of a virtual hat and got in contact with the winners. And we ended up with an eclectic and fun group that quickly became fast friends. Riding bikes and enjoying meals together in such an amazing place makes for instant friendships.

Let’s take a look at what happened in Oakridge…

We start each day with Nossa Familia Coffee (roasted in Portland, OR), lovingly prepared by Migration’s official barista: Espresso Bob.

Once you have your coffee, add a delicious and nutritious breakfast and you are ready to shred it for credit”.

Cog Wild

Cog Wild Tours and Shuttles have been providing support for your mountain bike endeavors since 2006, and they provided the shuttles for all three days of riding. If you're headed to Oakridge (or Bend) on your own, look them up!

"THE VENUE"

We posted up just outside of Oakridge at The Lodge at Hills Creek. Our wonderful hosts, Rick and Lindsay, made us amazing breakfasts and lunches, and hosted us at their well-appointed Lodge. There were nice rooms to stay in the two lodges, and we also had #vanlife and #tentlife options. We had a giant lawn to relax on, overlooking Hills Creek reservoir and the spectacular Diamond Peaks off in the distance.

"THE FOOD"

The food, oh my the food!

A hallmark of an Ibis Migration is the food (ok, the riding, the beverages and the people too).

Chef Rob Hunter has become our go-to whenever we can get him. He’s in high demand for good reason. His food is incredible. Rob drove up from Mendocino to ride with us and cook a couple of delicious dinners for Migration number 11. We will let the pictures do the talking.

One of the traditions that we’ve integrated into the Migrations over the years is the afternoon refresher after our daily bike ride(s). This usually involves your choice of a special cocktail (curated this time by Mendocino Migration breakfast chef Phil) or your choice of wine or beer. Or all three if you wish, we’re not judging.

Couple that with some hang out time and some delicious snacks, and you’ve got yourself some happy people.
