HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!
We hung up our shingle and started making bikes 36 years ago today. We may have been fools but we were happy fools. And we're still happy!
Ahead of the first round of the Enduro World Series (EWS) in Rotorua, New Zealand, Ibis and POC are proud to formally announce their continued partnership with the Ibis Cycles Enduro Race Team for the 2017 season.
POC, a leading manufacturer of helmets, eyewear, body armor, apparel and accessories was founded in 2005 in Sweden, with the mission “to do the best we can to possibly save lives and to reduce the consequences of accidents for gravity sports athletes and cyclists”.
2016, which was the first year of partnership between POC and Ibis, marked a great EWS season for the team with some fantastic individual performances spread throughout the year and ending with an incredible second place overall in the team competition. The 2017 season will hopefully produce more of the same and the team will again ride with POC helmets, eyewear, body armor and apparel, including the enduro range of POCs new mountain bike collection, Resistance.
Paul Morel, Head of Marketing, POC, said – “The first season of our partnership has been marked by extremely positive experiences and it’s a pleasure to keep working closely together with Ibis and the Enduro Race Team in 2017. At POC our mission guides us on everything we do, and working with a company like Ibis, who want the best performance and safety for their athletes fits perfectly with our approach. We have been really impressed by their dedication to their team riders and how they are continually looking to innovate to improve the rider experience. We are proud that our products have helped the team perform to such a high standard and their feedback has been invaluable in making our Resistance collection even better in 2017, which we hope will be seen in this year’s EWS results”.
During the 2017 season many of the Ibis team riders will use the Tectal Race and Coron helmets, Crave sunglasses and Cornea goggles, VPD knee and elbow pads, and the new Resistance enduro jerseys and shorts which feature a specific race cut, advanced fabric and integrated protection.
Tom Morgan, Ibis President and Team Manager, continued – “We are incredibly proud of what the team achieved last year, especially as they naturally took on and developed the personality of Ibis. Continuing our successful partnership with POC is also part of that personality as we have mutual perspectives on rider safety and performance. As we look forward to the new season of racing, and all the extremely diverse environments we will go to, it’s really good to know we have leaders in innovation, performance and safety supporting the riders as they take on some extremely technical and fast EWS races”.
The 2017 EWS racing season will kick off on the 26th March in the Southern Hemisphere with Rotorua challenging the riders with some of New Zealand’s most technical singletrack.
Robin Wallner, Ibis Cycles Enduro Team rider added – “I’ve had a long partnership with POC, which started way back in 2009. Throughout that time what has struck me most is their absolute focus on rider safety and performance. Their willingness to listen to rider feedback is a key asset and from the training and riding we have already done this year it is easy to see that the needs of enduro racers have been integrated in their protection and new Resistance apparel.”

Ibis' reputation for providing excellent customer service is well established, but on paper our 3 year warranty did not reflect the level protection that we were actually providing customers.
Manufacturer's warranties are almost always guarantees against defects in materials and workmanship exclusively. If a bike frame truly has such a defect it will almost always present itself fairly quickly after the bike is put into use, and that was the basis of our original 3 year warranty. However, in practice we would replace frames outside of the warranty period if it was clearly defective. Since we were in fact providing a warranty that lasted beyond the 3 years it only made sense to offer people that sense of security upfront. Going to 7 years we feel is more than sufficient to cover any defective part and provide customers confidence in their purchase without getting into any gray areas of wear and tear, abuse and depreciation.
At Ibis, we are making significant investments in quality control and continuous improvements in engineering. With a dedicated staff that is working on manufacturing technology and process improvement, Ibis is striving to provide the best quality, most advanced bikes on the market.
7 Year Guarantee - Ibis Frames and Rims are guaranteed to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 7 years for the original owner. Ibis will either repair or replace at its option any part it determines to be defective. Paint and finish are covered for a period of 1 year.
Lifetime No-fault Guarantee - Provides for low-cost replacement or repair of parts damaged in a crash or other non-warranty situation for the life of the original owner.
This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, nor does it apply to damage that is the result of abuse, neglect, improper assembly, improper maintenance, alteration, misuse or massive hucking. The costs of disassembly, reassembly or repair of any attached components are not covered by this warranty and are the responsibility of the original owner. Under no circumstance are the costs of shipping to or from Ibis covered by this limited warranty.
This warranty is non-transferable and applies exclusively to Ibis bicycles and rims manufactured after January 1, 2016
NO FAULT REPLACEMENT
Should your Ibis be involved in a crash or other non-warranty situation, Ibis Cycles will make replacement parts available at a minimum charge to the original owner. Ibis Cycles does this at its sole discretion and reserves the right to refuse this offer, so don't go crashing your bike on purpose. We already know that one.
Unless otherwise provided, the sole remedy under the above warranty, or any implied warranty, is limited to the replacement of defective parts with those of equal or greater value at the sole discretion of Ibis Cycles. In no event shall Ibis Cycles be held responsible for direct, incidental or consequential damages, including, without limitation, damages for personal injury, property damage, or economic losses, whether based on contract, warranty, negligence, product liability, or any other theory. Okay. Good!
