Sungrown in California (Made in the USA). We build each Ripley SL in our Northern California factory. This gives us the utmost control, which enables us to hit remarkable frame strength, stiffness, and weight targets for this frame. Learn more about the process.
Get that gear off your back and into your bike with our frame storage system. The latch operates effortlessly, even in cold, muddy conditions while wearing gloves. The door is water-resistant, rattle-free, and robust.
We crafted a set of two internal bags for your snacks, tools, or whatever. We chose a manufacturing partner known for high-quality construction and PFAS free fabrics.
The Ripley SL features neat and tidy derailleur and brake hose management. This allows for easy swingarm removal without disconnecting the brakes lines.
We continue to use the critically acclaimed dw-link suspension platform known for its efficient climbing and excellent downhill performance; it sets the standard for modern mountain bikes.
Our size-specific kinematics make sure every size bike pedals amazing while still keeping things ferociously smooth on challenging trails.
You can run overbuilt, chunky tires or you can run light, big volume fast tires. Whatever you run, you’re not limited by width.
The Ripley SL has clearance for two water bottles inside the front triangle on frame sizes M–XL. The size small frame has room for a single tall bottle.
If it's our fault, we'll fix it. Simple as that.

Ripley SL Specific FAQs
We manufacture the Ripley SL in Watsonville, California, in our solar-powered facility.
An extra medium Ripley SL frame weighs 5.0 lbs (2275 g) with shock. Weight for a complete bike starts at 25 lbs.
We recommend a 130mm travel fork on the Ripley SL. A 120mm fork will take the Ripley SL from downcountry to World Cup XC. We recommend those interested in over-forking the Ripley SL take a closer look at the Ripley V5.
The Ripley SL can accommodate most 2.4” tires. As a rule of thumb, you need a minimum of 8mm of clearance at the tightest location between the frame and tire.
The maximum round chainring size is 34T. The minimum round chainring size is 28T.
The Ripley SL has a 55mm chainline.
Popular 55mm chainline cranksets include:
Sram Dub Wide Cranksets.
Shimano 6120, 8220, and 9200/9220 Series Cranksets.
A variety of other manufacturers offer 55mm chainline cranksets. Verify with your preferred crankset manufacturer before purchasing and installing.
*Please note the Ripley SL bottom bracket shell does not have splines for an ISCG 05 tab.
M-XL sizes of the Ripley SL can fit two 22 oz Purist bottles when using side-loading water bottle cages. The small can fit one 26oz bottle.
Yes, but an air shock will perform the best.
The RockShox Flight Attendant fork adjustment knob will not clear the frame. You can install a 6mm crown race to achieve adequate clearance. The Rockshox Flight Attendant rear shock will limit or eliminate water bottle fitment on certain sizes. In general, we recommend using a cable-actuated remote lockout fork and shock. The forward shock mount is hollow and allows for clean cable routing.
Ibis STOW - ‘Snacks, Tools, or Whatever’ is our integrated frame storage system. Find out more about STOW here.
The maximum length pump that can fit inside our tool bag is 7.25 inches / 18.4cm.
Yes, replacement Ibis STOW components can be found on our webstore.
You can find torque specs for the Ripley SL in the tab on the right.
The Ripley SL has an integrated top mount chain guide that attaches to our lower link.
We have touch up paint available for most colors, through Rotaris, or My Perfect Color (for colors/models before 2024). Some automotive retailers have the ability to custom match paint.

Dropper Post Saddle Height Calculations
Do not try to insert your post deeper than these measurements. Forcing the post can result in a seat tube failure.
IMPORTANT: Before riding, check the saddle to tire clearance with the dropper post fully dropped and the air out of the shock with frame compressed to bottom out.
