There were a lot of racing events happening all over the planet and even in some parts of Canada this weekend.
Ibis riders were out representing nicely.
In our "back yard" the Ibis crew made the trek up to gorgeous Downieville CA, for the 16th (or so) running of the Downieville Classic, including their All Mountain World Championships, along with the Downiville Downhill and Downieville Classic XC race.
More on that later, but let's move to our international competition first.
Anne Caroline Chausson continued to obliterate all the competion, this week at the Alpe D'Huez Megavalanche. We noticed these two pictures on the endurotribe.com web coverage of the event that sum up how it goes when you're racing against one of mountain biking's winningest rider. Here's the start of the women's race:

Yes, that's Anne Caro already shredding the competition. Within a few seconds, here's the view the other women racers would only have a for a few more seconds, until Anne Caro dropped out of sight. Nice work on your Mojo HD Anne Caroline!

Brian Lopes decided to compete in the Pro Solo Epic category of the BC Bike race this week. Being from the gravity side of thing and nearly twice as old as some of his competitors, Brian set his sights low, hoping for a couple top 20 finishes during the week. Well, he did a lot better than that, with a couple in the top ten, and on yesterday's final stage, finished a staggering second in the stage, beating a lot of really fast XC guys including overall race winner Chris Sheppard. Brian's second place helped him to secure 12th overall, a fantastic finish. He did the race on a Mojo SL-R. You can read a bit about it here: http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/bc-bike-race-sr-2/stage-7/results.
There's another story posted here too, written by Andreas Hestler. We like this passage:
"Stage winer Kindree rode into a 2.5-minute gap over the next closest racers to cross the line: Brian Lopes (IBIS), Chris Sheppard and Jason Sager. Yes, Brian Lopes. After winning the Rocky Mountain Bikes “Love the Ride” timed sections in Squamish yesterday, Gravity legend Brian Lopes put in an unbelievable effort to win second place in Stage 7. BC Bike Race was Lopes’ first crack at a mountain bike stage race and he was clearly stoked, “This is way more than I’d expected. My goal this week was a couple of top 20 finishes and I had two or three top 10 before today. But I never thought in a million years I would get in the top three!”
Congrats on a great finish Brian.
Even Plews continued his winning ways by slaying all in the single speed competition, again. In second was Jeff Kendall-Weed, who is 50% of the Ibis sales department. The other 50% is Aaron Kereluk, who finished a very respectable 7th in the single speed race.
Kenny Burt managed a third in the downhill on his Mojo HD and combined with his sixth overall yesterday, managed to bag 4th overall in the All mountain world Championships. Nice work Kenny!
Thanks to all the Ibis competitors, for a fantastic weekend of racing.
